These four-ingredient bars are so simple that I almost didn’t post them, but then I did because I’m running out of blog content. So here you are, a break from all the indulgence. They taste like health food, but what do you expect from that ingredient list? I like to eat them with a schmear of peanut butter and Nutella or both to compensate.
There are dates in these. They are a date snack. A snack for your date. A date with your snack. Break out the dates for your snacks. Take a date on your snack break.

Banana Date Snack Bars
Adapted from The Kitchn
2 large, very ripe bananas
2 cups rolled oats
1/4 cup pitted, chopped dried dates
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
Ground cinnamon, for sprinkling
Heat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 98×8-inch square baking dish with olive oil spray.
Mash bananas in a medium mixing bowl until no large chunks remain. You will have between 1 cup and 1 1/4 cup. Add the oats and stir them in. Stir in the salt, dates, and nuts.
Pat the thick mixture evenly into the baking pan. If desired, sprinkle the top lightly with nutmeg or cinnamon. Bake for 30 minutes or until the edges just begin to turn golden.
Place the baking pan on a rack to cool. When the pan is mostly cool, cut into bars.
