Pipe Dream #192: To GET THAT

brand dad 3 low res

The greatest  compliment to receive as a photographer is that my subjects look natural. Capturing real smiles is my joy. It is that moment of satisfaction where you just know you got it right and you can move on. Next pose, next subject, next joke. It’s better than baking a perfect chocolate chip cookie.

Because a still can only catch one second of a real person, it can be tricky to coax out a smile and record it on film at the same time. So getting one means that I am not so horrendously unfunny and that I still am maintaining my fine motor skills.

Cheez,

Pipe Dream #112: To Minster Myself – York

I wish I could Minster myself. Like, be so cool that I didn’t even have to add my last name onto anything. Yeah, Lauren Minster. When I heard about the York Minster, which is the largest Gothic cathedral in Northern England, I thought, “Wait, the York Minster Cathedral? The York Minster Abbey? Like Westminster Abbey?” Nope. Just York Minster. The Minster.

Anyway, I got to see it. It was cool, even if it was under construction.

York actually had a lot of intersting things in it. It was all very romantic and picturesque.

This street is called The Shambles. The houses are built so close together that you can shake hands with the person across the street from the top windows. I think it looks like Diagon Alley.

And I really have nothing to say about this picture, except that I ask you to please note the weirdness of his fingers and then reconsider his statement. Sure, man.

Pipe Dream #71: To Be More Exotic Than 4500 Miles Away From Home

My girl Christy is a beauty. We had so much fun taking pictures the other day, and my favorite thing to do with Christy was pose her by the random tropical plants on the grounds. It looks like some model spread where they flew to some random island to shoot and all the shots look really exotic.

I’ll fake it ’til I make it,

Favorite Shots: 150 Birdies

This picture was shot right near my house. I printed out a 10×13 and hung it in an enormous new frame from Target that I got at a thrift store for $4. I love thrift stores. The janky Salvation Army by my house was recently revamped. And I’m so happy about that.

A couple more of my recent finds:

Ok, quick summary of this post:

Birdies, thrift stores, shoes. Good.

Over and out,

L
